Compact Air Jet Milling for Small-Batch, High-Purity Material Research
Introduction
The ZYLAB Lab Scale Benchtop Jet Mill is a compact tabletop powder processing system designed for laboratory-scale pulverization, ultrafine grinding, and deagglomeration of small quantities of high-value materials.
Using high-speed compressed air or inert gas, the jet mill accelerates particles through a specially designed grinding chamber, where particle-to-particle impact and shear forces reduce the material to fine and uniform powders. With no mechanical rotating grinding parts, the system minimizes wear and material contamination while providing stable and reliable operation.
The compact benchtop design integrates a vibrating feeder, control instruments, valves, cyclone separator, and collection vessel, making the system easy to operate, disassemble, and clean. It is particularly suitable for research laboratories that frequently process different materials or need to work with limited sample quantities.
Applications
Typical research applications include:
- Advanced ceramic materials
- Battery cathode and anode materials
- Powder metallurgy materials
- Fine chemical materials
- High-purity inorganic powders
- Pigments and coating powders
- Non-metallic mineral materials
- Pharmaceutical and biochemical raw materials
The benchtop jet mill can be used for laboratory processing of a wide range of materials, including:
Hard Materials
Diamond, silicon carbide, ceramic powders, and other wear-resistant materials.
Metal Powders
Various metal and alloy powders requiring fine particle processing.
High-Purity Materials
Ceramic pigments, specialty inorganic powders, and other materials where minimizing contamination is important.
Heat-Sensitive Materials
Materials that may be affected by conventional mechanical grinding due to heat generation.
Features and Benefits
- Ultrafine Pulverization & Deagglomeration
High-velocity air or inert gas provides efficient particle-to-particle impact and shear for fine and uniform powder processing. - Gentle Processing for Heat-Sensitive Materials
The absence of mechanical grinding contact helps reduce heat generation and supports low-temperature powder processing. - High-Purity Material Processing
A 304 stainless steel housing with a high-purity fully sintered alumina ceramic (corundum) lining provides excellent wear resistance while minimizing contamination. - No Mechanical Rotating Parts
The grinding mechanism has no rotating components, providing simple operation, low mechanical wear, and reliable performance. - Integrated Vibrating Feeder
The built-in feeder enables convenient and adjustable control of the material feed rate for laboratory-scale experiments. - Efficient Powder Collection
A cyclone separator and collection vessel are included for convenient separation and collection of processed powders. Three dust-proof collection bags are supplied. - Compact Benchtop Design
The tabletop configuration saves laboratory space and provides easy access for operation, cleaning, and material changes. - Easy to Clean and Disassemble
The simple structure allows rapid disassembly and cleaning, making it suitable for laboratories that process different materials frequently. - Compressed Air or Inert Gas Operation
The system can use compressed air or inert gas according to the material and processing requirements.
