Introduction

The Protective Gas Box for Biochar Pyrolysis in Box Furnaces is a dedicated atmosphere-controlled solution developed by ZYLAB for biochar production and carbon material thermal processing. By integrating a high-temperature ZYLAB box furnace with a sealed protective gas box and inert gas control system, this solution provides a stable, low-oxygen environment essential for biomass pyrolysis and carbonization processes.

Designed for laboratory research and pilot-scale biochar production, the system effectively minimizes oxidation, improves carbon yield, and ensures consistent and repeatable processing results.

Integrated Box Furnace & Protective Gas Box System

This solution combines a ZYLAB high-temperature box furnace with an external sealed protective gas box, enabling controlled introduction of inert gases such as nitrogen (N₂) or argon (Ar) into the furnace chamber.

The protective gas box is fully compatible with ZYLAB 12 L, 36 L, and 80 L box furnaces, allowing seamless integration without structural modification of the furnace body. The sealed design significantly reduces air ingress during heating, holding, and cooling stages.

Controlled Atmosphere for Biochar Pyrolysis

During biomass pyrolysis and biochar production, exposure to oxygen at elevated temperatures can lead to unwanted oxidation, reduced carbon yield, and unstable product quality. The ZYLAB protective gas box is specifically engineered to address these challenges.
